I graduated from Stony Brook University with an advanced graduate certificate at both the district (SDL) and building (SBL) levels.  Upon graduating, I was hired as Administrative Dean of Walt Whitman High School.  I have spent the past three years working closely with the administrative staff at Walt Whitman in all facets of school leadership and management in order to effectively meet the needs of all students.  In addition, I have completed extensive training in effectively implementing and maintaining proactive discipline strategies as a member of the South Huntington Changing Behavior Initiative Team.

During my teaching tenure at South Huntington School District I taught at the third, fourth, and fifth grade levels.  I have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the elementary curriculum and the Common Core Standards.  I have collaborated with my colleagues in order to conduct data analysis, write and modify curriculum, design assessments, and strengthen the home-school connection.  In addition, I have taught in an inclusion classroom utilizing a team model approach to instruction.  This experience has provided me with the strategies and knowledge needed to effectively meet the academic needs of all students.  Furthermore, the breadth and depth of my first-hand experiences with students of all ages enable me to anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of students at various academic, social, and emotional levels.

Leadership Experience

My leadership and management experience is extensive.  Upon graduating from high school, I followed my childhood dream of studying the martial arts in Japan.  I spent the next two years in Japan training various martial arts and studying elements of Japanese culture.  Upon returning from Japan, I opened a Jiu-Jitsu academy in Mineola, New York.  For close to twenty years, I supervised the daily operations of my martial arts academy, which included managing the finances, being a leader to my staff, and teaching the art of Jiu-Jitsu to hundreds of children, adults, and various law enforcement agencies.
